As the weather begins to cool down, curling up next to the fire may sound like the best thing to do. But there are many Christmas and winter activities in New Mexico that are worth stepping outside in the cold. The 20th annual River of Lights takes place at the ABQ BioPark Botanic Gardens from Nov 26th to Dec 30th, from 6:00-9:30 pm. For just $12 you can experience the millions of twinkling lights and make amazing memories.
If you need to catch up on Christmas shopping, Nob Hill and Old Town hold holiday strolls making it easy to find the perfect gift for your loved ones and support local businesses. Nob Hill’s shop and stroll will take place on December 1st starting at 4:00 p.m. Central Ave. will be closed from San Mateo Blvd. to Girard Blvd. to make the roads safer for shoppers. Old Town will hold its Holiday Stroll on December 2nd and will contain a spectacular evening of the lighting of the tree in the Don Luis Plaza, along with entertainment, shopping and food.
If shopping isn’t your forte you could take a ride on the New Mexico Old Town Luminaria Tour. This is a great way to experience the #NewMexicoTrue culture and its dazzling display of a festive winter wonderland. You can book your tour at visitalbuquerque.org and start a wonder tradition this year.
