The La Cueva Drama Department is debuting its fall production of Arsenic and Old Lace on September 29th and 30th at 7 P.M. and October 1st at 2 P.M. in the La Cueva Performing Arts Center.
This classic comedy combines elements of comedy and horror. The La Cueva Thespians are taking a bold new move in addressing comedy after not having done a “pure comedy” in the last three years.
“Arsenic and Old Lace is definitely a comedy wholeheartedly,” said Carson Lewis, senior. “A comedy is definitely something we don’t try often.”
The story is focused around two old ladies in their 1940’s apartment in Brooklyn. The set is a massive two-story construction resembling the New York apartment. Everything is not as it seems, though, as there are many dead bodies in the basement.
This show introduces many new actors who have never been seen on the stage before. Cecilia Dean in her first lead role is making her debut on the stage as Abby Brewster, one of charming, murderous old ladies.
The play opens Thursday, September 29 in the PAC at 7 P.M. The show will run through October 1.
