The La Cueva varsity football team kicked off the year to a great start. On August 24th at Community Stadium, the team had a victory over Cibola high school with a score of 31-26. The student section was huge and the students were full of school spirit which encouraged the team to get their first win.

After the Bears got the first touchdown of the game, their confidence boosted and they started to play even better. Cibola was putting up a fight and by second quarter the score was close, Cibola leading by five points. The pressure was on the Bears to get back on top and win the game for La Cueva.

By the end of third quarter the score was 22-14, still in favor of the Cougars. Going into the fourth quarter the bears were determined and not ready to accept a loss. At the end of the last quarter La Cueva made a comeback and won the game.
The team was proud of themselves and left with renewed confidence. The student section and parents cheered and jumped up and down with excitement for the first win of the season. The Bears are now prepared to take on Cleveland High School on September 2nd.
