Not That Kind of Girl Book Review

Mikayla Nowell | Lifestyles Editor

Summer is around the corner and if you’re anything like me this is when you can sit back, relax, and enjoy a book. I stumbled upon this book one day at Urban Outfitters and it has forever changed my life. The book Not That Kind of Girl written by Lena Dunham is what Lena Dunham “has learned” throughout her life and making it in the world.

It begins with her childhood and questions that shaped her as a human being. Throughout the book she touches on her insecurities of being over weight, falling in love, family, work, and how to be a strong independent woman.

Not only is this an empowering book to young woman, but also a great laugh. She does an outstanding job bringing light to serious topics to better understand her struggles as a young woman in this day and age.

Highly recommended to all high school ages, but beware of some language and the situations Lena touches on can be mildy inappropriate. This book is a “coming of age” book I should say because it does answer a lot of questions that many high school girls are unaware or even to scared to ask. Pick up a copy of this humorous and life changing book, you won’t regret it.
