Mockingjay Part 2 Movie Review

The final installment of the Hunger Games series, Mockingjay Part 2, officially comes out today. Mockingjay Part 2 is a must see for everyone who’s read the books or seen the three previous movies. Jennifer Lawrence returns as Katniss Everdeen, the Mockingjay, for the last time to battle President Snow and the Capitol with the rebels from all 13 Districts of Panem. In the movie, relationships get strained while others are beginning to catch fire once again. Katniss and Gale (Liam Hemsworth) drift apart due to Katniss’s concern with Peeta (Josh Hutcherson). My favorite parts of the movie were those with Katniss and Peeta attempting to rekindle their relationship. “Real or not real?” is the question Peeta asks Katniss in order to differentiate the memories he has as being genuine or those manipulated by the Capitol. These scenes are extremely personal and cute (fangirling/fanboying much?). The venture into the Capitol with new and old faces was intense, captivating, and moving. The movie takes you on an emotional roller coaster, from fear of the mutants, to extreme sadness of the onscreen deaths, and great jubilee at the happy ending of an incredible series. I was on the edge of my seat the entire movie, waiting in anticipation of the events to come. The acting was just as phenomenal as in the other three movies. Be prepared to laugh, cry, and rejoice as the film unravels and the series comes to a close.
