Being a student athlete is stressful to say the least. Avalon Yi, senior this year at La Cueva, can attest to the fact that her day-to-day life is hectic.
Avalon is one of the captains of La Cueva Girls Soccer. She is also involved in Safe School Ambassadors, National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and on top of it all she is the Senior Class President. She is among countless student athletes juggling school with their sport.
But, we rarely hear about their home life. Avalon lives with her dad, step-mom, and little brother Jonah. She spends most of her time at home (when she’s not doing homework) with Jonah, chillin’ and watching sports on television.
Avalon values her time with her family and appreciates being home. “I have a really busy schedule, but I always find time for family and a social life,” said Yi. With state soccer around the corner and college applications due soon, Avalon and many other students here at La Cueva will need to balance their time wisely.
