“Late in the second half we drove the ball down the field and punched it in,” said Taysear Ali, sophomore, linebacker about the JV win against Eldorado High School. With their success as a team, they hope to remain united and continue to grow throughout the rest of their season.

The team has had all the experience they need to continue to be successful. Last year as a C team, this group saw numerous wins.

This year, they’re bringing their blend of unity and skill to the field again. “We all worked together to win,” said Ali.  “Feels good to beat them because they talked a lot of smacks, and we put them in their place.”

Throughout the game, the teams were tightly matched which made every nail-biting moment intense. Ali also said the game was “a defensive battle.” A major part of their success is the strength of their defense.

Can the big bears on varsity do the same and beat Eldorado? According to Ali, “No doubt varsity can do the same. We just have to come together and fight as a team.”
