If you’re looking for a good funny movie this weekend…look no further. Hot Pursuit, a crime film/action movie based on a small town cop “Cooper” (Reese Witherspoon) who gets the break of a lifetime by helping transport a fugitive’s wife “Daniella Riva” (Sophia Vergara) to testify against a drug lord Vicente Cortez (Joaquin Cosio). When things go wrong and Daniella’s husband is killed, Cooper is set up by fellow cops turned bad. She has to improvise and survive while transporting her witness to Dallas and clear her name.
First off the genre should include comedy because that’s all this movie was…funny. The humor was kind of stupid and the trailer was a lot funnier than the movie itself.
Personally I think this movie was a bit too long, but overall it wasn’t bad. Sofia Vergara was pretty funny, but her character was rude and untrustworthy the entire film. Reese Whitherspoon, on the other hand, was hilarious: uncoordinated but clever, she was corky and cute all at once.
This movie had humor, emotion, romance, and action all in one. The graphics were great and the effects were very realistic. As for negative things, some of the jokes were funny, but predictable or they fell flat. The plot wasn’t the best either, but the suspense added to the movie a lot, like (spoiler alert) Cooper’s boss being involved with the cartel she was trying to put away.
I would recommend this movie to young adults and adults. There was mild language and violence, so I wouldn’t recommend letting your kids watch this. You can see this movie in theatres or rent at a Redbox near you. I rate this movie four stars.
