Trending Now: Black Thanksgiving

by Kaylee Carver

Black Friday has been the busiest and most affordable shopping day of the year. People wait in lines for hours for their favorite stores to open at midnight, hoping to snag the best deals. But the past few years have been a little different.

Stores are now opening earlier on Thanksgiving night. Big stores like Target, Walmart, K-Mart, Best Buy, Kohl’s, and Macy’s will be opening at 6:00 pm to entice us to stretch our holiday dollar further with early bird deals. Since these are popular stores, will people be willing to give up most of their Thanksgiving dinner and family time to wait in line? …to get trampled by early Christmas shoppers?

Will  Black Thanksgiving become a new American tradition?  Tell us what you think.

  1. S. Schripsema says:

There’s a petition circulating through asking that Macy’s stay closed on Thanksgiving day so their employees can have the full day with family.

  2. KP says:

I think that people should not go out shopping on Thanksgiving day because that is time to be with your family and celebrate a wonderful holiday about being thankful. Also Black Friday is only fun if it starts at like 6 a.m. on Friday and there is actually stuff left for you to buy.
